2021 $1,000 College Scholarship Information

The Executive Committee of the Lapeer County Republican Party is pleased to announce the 2021 Lapeer County Republican Party High School Scholarship Award for a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Lapeer County, and plans to continue their education at a college or technical school. A graduating Lapeer County senior of the class of 2021 may enter their essay to compete to win a $1000 scholarship.

The topic of the 2021 essay is “Nick Sandmann, the Covington Catholic High School student made nationwide headlines while attending a March for Life in Washington D.C. Many made quick judgment of this young man from the way the media portrayed him during his encounter with a Native American protester. Do you think the major media sources contribute to division in America? What, if anything, can be done to require fact-based truthful reporting?

It is our hope that students will be inspired to take an active step toward personal responsibility regarding their government and their country.
